Godly Relationships 101 Proverbs 2 and James 1:5 if you lack wisdom ask of God. 1. If you are broken and looking for another person to make you whole. You are not ready to be in a relationship. Only God can make you whole and when you depend on someone else to do what only God can do; There is a added pressure and weight on both persons to provide what they are not capable of providing. Hebrews 9:13-14. A big part of this is God through us keeping us pure. Proverbs 4:23 tells us Above all else, watch over your heart; diligently guard it because from a sincere and pure heart come the good and noble things of life. Then we are told how to guard our hearts. Lets hop over to Proverbs 5 You see, the lips of a seductive woman speak honey-sweet words; they are smooth like oil and enticing. 4 But in the end, she is bitter, turning the stomach and rotting the soul; she cuts as deep as a double-edged sword. 5 She leads you down a path that can only end in death; her steps lead eventually to the grave. 6 She does not travel the road to life and truth. She follows a wandering path— a rocky, pit-filled road that twists and turns—and she doesn’t even know it. Woman there seductive men out there too. Proverbs 5:16-17, 20-21 tells us to keep ourselves for our future spouse. Chapter 6:24-25 tells us to be aware of smooth talkers and that wisdom will keep us from corrupt relationships Chapter 7: 10-13 Tells us to wisdom will keep us from those who dress with temptation. which also means we should not dress to tempt. verse 23 says don't let your mind wonder to those who desire to tempt you. Chapter 22:11 tells us Those who love a pure heart and speak with grace will find that the king is their friend. Meaning God cares about purity. Verse 14 tells us again (14 The alluring words of a seductive woman are a deep hole; the Eternal is incensed toward those who fall in.) Watch out for the smooth talker they usually don't have good intentions. Song of Solomon 2:7, 3:5, and 8:4 tell us not awaken love until it is ready. God's intention is not to keep you from having fun. God's intention is to protect you from the consequences of not heeding wisdom. 2. The illusion of the fairytale, romance novel and greeting card God calls relationship a covenant for a reason. Most people have the misconception that love will always be roses. Ladies and Gentlemen you cannot base your relationship off of warm fuzzy, frilly feelings. Because feelings fade and feelings change. Feelings friends are unreliable. This why there are so many divorces and relationship hopping going on. When the feelings fade they felt they were not in love anymore. True relationship is a Covenant. A Covenant is a commitment. Commitment says on those days when I don't even like you. I am going to go to God. And He will continually remind us that we committed before God and each other to stand by each other. We vow to never leave our lover in a fire. But when the fire comes that is exactly what happens. Friends Fireproof does not mean there will be no fires. Fireproof means when the fire comes you will not be burned down. Commitment says when the warm and fuzzes are gone I will still be here. The only way the Commitment will work is for God to be the center. Only God can empower you to fulfill what He asks of us. For you to have a successful relationship you Love (Jesus) to show what love is and how to love. Otherwise you will be in a continual loop of broken and failed relationships that leave you empty. Seek and you will find. Jesus withholds no good thing from his children.
