Painting A Picture Of The Pride Of Life

I had this scripture on my mind. Here is what it says. 1 John 2:15-17 King James Version (KJV) 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Andrew Murray broke it down like this: 1.The lust of the flesh, 2.The lust of the eyes ,and 3. The pride of life. I understood the first two, but I had to look up the third. The pride of life is anything that leads to pride, arrogance, presumption, or boastfulness that comes from the love of the world. John Bunyan painted a really poignant picture of what loving the world looks like. In "Pilgrim's Progress" we are told of a place designed by the enemy named Vanity Fair. This place offered the pilgrims everything the world had to offer. Vanity Fair offered the pilgrims fame, fortune, titles, beauty, houses, land, relationships, popularity and anything else that was suppose to capture their eyes. According to John Bunyan every time a citizen of Vanity Fair would ask the pilgrims "What will you buy?" The pilgrims answered by plugging their ears and saying " Turn my eyes away from worthless things; with your ways, give me life. Psalm 119:37" Today is no different we are told that beauty, cars, makeup, clothes, notoriety, power, a the pride of a job well done will give us value. The truth is we are already valuable. If the body succumbs to all that glitters then she is not of the father. We must not be trapped by the things of this world because they have no eternal value. We must turn eyes upon Jesus Yahshua and look full into His face. Jesus Yahshua overcame the world. We overcome the world through Jesus Yahshua. We are constantly being sold stuff. So my question is what will you buy? Will you accept the truth and live by it, or will you buy the lie and allow it to destroy your life and eternity. Store up your treasure in heaven friends because where your treasure is your heart is also. Never be lead by your heart because it is deceived. Only be lead by Jesus Yahshua who is worthy to lead you.

I will attach a video of Pilgrim's Progress Vanity Fair. In this version they made Faithful a women although in the book Faithful is a man. I think they did a good job portraying Vanity Fair. I beg you citizens of Heaven do not be vain. God created you to be people of substance and hope.
