Beware Of Mr. Worldly Wiseman

In John Bunyan's book "Pilgrims Progress," we are introduced to a character named Mr. Worldly Wiseman. This character serves as a warning. He stops Christian on his journey. Christian is told that the way to remove his burden is by living morally without God, and doing himself what can only be done by God.

How many times have we heard someone say something that sounds good but is nowhere in the bible? Such as God helps those who help themselves or cleanliness is next to Godliness. It does not matter how deep something sounds if it is not biblical it is fleshly worldly wisdom. Any time you try to justify anything by anyone or thing besides God you are walking in the flesh. God's wisdom will always lead to life. If your flesh likes it then it probably isn't of God. The Bible says the spirit wars with the flesh. (Galatians 5:17 ) It also says no good thing comes from the flesh. (Romans 7:18)

So many people are captivated with Mr. Worldly Wiseman because He offers a life without Lordship. He offers you rewards without responsibility. People want to live how they want to without having a relationship with God. As if being moral is enough. They chose the path that seems right to them. Proverbs tells us that this path leads to death. ( Proverbs 14:12, Proverbs 16:25) The path of worldly wisdom carries all that glitters, however it can only be obtained by compromise. Remember Christian was told to follow the narrow path to the gate. It was Mr. Worldly Wiseman that sent him to morality which was falling apart and in danger of destruction.

It is The Spirit of God that enables us to live righteous not our own strength. A moral person will keep moving the line that God has drawn. They will make lots of rules that they cannot keep. They will also try to justify their actions. I can do this because technically the bible doesn't say I can't. There are no loopholes in God's kingdom. Either you live for Him or you don't.

Take everything to God and do your research so you are not lured by fleshy wisdom. Don't talk or listen to Mr. Worldly Wiseman in whatever form he comes in. He will only lead you astray. Just keep walking Yahushua is with you and He will guide you. His spirit is true wisdom. Let us learn to separate the treasure from the trash. The only way to rightly divide the truth is to have a relationship with Yahushua and to hear His voice. After all, He did say, He is The Way, The Truth and The Life. Let us allow Him to do what only He can do for us.
