I just watched a video on YouTube called Dear Church. This video addressed something I have experienced more times than I care to admit. Visiting a church and no one acknowledges you because you are new. The other issue I want to speak about is how church people treat people who don’t go to church. First, we need to understand that the bible says they will know we are Christians by our love. Most people have said the last place they want to go is church. Why? Because they don’t feel welcome let alone loved. My last experience visiting a church left me feeling like I had an incurable disease. No said hi, or acknowledged we even existed. They all stared at us like we invaded their space and had no right to be there. The other incident happened at a special event I attended with my Mom. We knew no one. We started to have conversations with the people at our table. That’s when someone asked my mom the question. What church do you go too? When it was explained that we don’t the lady ignored us and acted like we didn’t have to right to be in the same circle as her. Just because I do not attend a church building does not mean that I don’t love God. Do alienate people because are different. When a person behaves in the manners in which I have spoken you are not conveying the love of God. You are not inspiring people to return either. I think this why Christians have the reputation of being some of the meanest people. This should not be. A Christians’ identifying characteristic is love so why is missing. Why is the Body of Christ focusing on everything but the most simple and obvious way to reach unbelievers and broken believers? Let me break it down for you because now there is certain scripture that most people quote. Hebrews 10:23-25

23 Let us continue holding fast to the hope we acknowledge, without wavering; for the One who made the promise is trustworthy. 24 And let us keep paying attention to one another, in order to spur each other on to love and good deeds, 25 not neglecting our own congregational meetings, as some have made a practice of doing, but, rather, encouraging each other. And let us do this all the more as you see the Day approaching

Here’s the deal the word for church in Hebrews is Ecclesia which means God’s called-out ones. (This means we are the church) Ecclesia was replaced by the Greek word curt which means meeting place. What Paul is talking about in this passage is how the young believers would meet at each other’s houses weekly to help each other grow in Christ. On the Sabbath, each person went to their own home and taught their own families. It isn’t enough to know scripture. Because the Bible comes from the Jewish culture it is important to research that as well. You will find that by doing this the bible makes way more sense. So I challenge you, are you a Christian? If so does God’s love identify you?
